I find these cost estimates are understated. In our area a vet visit is around $70. Basis bloodwork $300+ for a geriatric cat. Solensia injections monthly for arthritic cat $120. Our geriatric cat was on two heart meds, probiotics, steroid for allergies and a stomach med, all compounded. We got 90 day supplies so we weren't having to order so frequently. It was expensive but she her quality of life was worth it to us. I just don't think people realize that just like humans, animals require more care as they age.

And kittens can be costly too. One of our two new kittens has serious food allergies and stomatitis. Figuring out and treating what was going on was quite expensive. She came from a cat hoarding situation with lack of proper diet and medical care. She's doing well now but we worry she may not have a long life because of her birth circumstances. In diagnosing her, we had several special tests, which were expensive. She was in terrible pain from two types of mouth ulcers attributed to food allergies. One, a Menrath ulcer, our vets had never heard of before. We can't thank our vet enough for all the research she did to figure out our kittens illnesses and treating them. To top it off, our kitten had mites that normally only dogs get. Again from the lack of care in the hoarding situation. Once we started treatment for that it was like we have a new cat. She is so happy now. And she's such a laid back kitty, not the kitten clawing at her mouth in pain. Granted this is a rare example of both time and cost medically, but it does occur.

We are just fortunate we have a vet that is caring and determined to research and consult to figure out our kitten and geriatric cat issues. It gave our geriatric cat more quality time with us. And hopefully our kitten will be pain free now too. Sorry to ramble, but there are circumstances where pet care is expensive.

Mixed breed kittens are very low in the cast, I always keep thinking about why it is low in the cast now only I come to know this kitten maintenance cast is also low because it will never frequently get ill. Well-informed regarding things necessary to use for kittens. Periodontal disease leads to organ disease is needed information. A very useful article explained top to bottom regarding owning kittens. I suggest Petzlover to buy kittens.

Looking at the article again, I think it was inaccurate to describe vet checkups that way. Edited. Thank you for your insights!

I am dismayed that you would refer to vet care as a little luxury. A cat should see a vet at least once a year. As for food, a number of vets have told me that most of the large pet food companies do extensive research for their products. So while people may sneer at Fancy Feast,, it is a good healthy food. Cats don't need holistic food prepared in kitchens by elves and fairies. Friskies is just fine. The pet industry has gone crazy. I do love my cats and feed them well but I don't go crazy and feed them quail eggs. They have clean litter boxes (cleaned every day) good food, fresh water every day in clean bowls, many toys and numerous beds and blankets.

Best cat toy is tie-rap. My Cat will play with it for days, throwing it up in the air, doing air shows for me and loves to bite down on it and put the clicks through. He just loves it!!!!! Been playing with them for over 8 years.
