In reply to Jackie. I hope your cat has found some relief from his issue and I realize your post is almost a year old but I came across an “odd” fact that surprised me. A very reliable vet who’s been in practice for over 50 years said some cats can be allergic to chicken! Yes, chicken which is in a lot of canned & dry cat food. I actually reread the information twice because let’s face it chicken is a go to for critters who have digestive problems, bowel issues (diarrhea), etc. But it can actually make the symptoms worse. I saw in your post you had changed his/her food so I’m hoping it made a difference for your furbaby. Vet bills are no fun & they can add up quickly.

My cat has been wearing a cone due to a spot on his forehead, he looks miserable, no ear infection and not mites, he keeps on taking off the scar, he looks miserable but always ends up bleeding, i am spending too much money on vet visits and no improvement. [Please help! i changed his food, hopefully it will help.

These dosages are incorrect per my vet. 11.14 lbs is 5MLs. I have a dosage sheet and have been in animal rescue since 2001

Any tips for driving cross country from San Francisco to Northern Florida with my 6-year-old female cat. She is very health indoor/outdoor cat. I have a litter box ready a harness and leash. Would you suggest leaving her in the cat carrier the whole time while cars in motion? Can she wander about a little to stretch? How often should we offer a bathroom break. (At home she lets me know with a different meow when she needs to use the litter box in the garage because it’s raining outside. I wonder if she’ll do the same. She has only road in the car for vet visits for vaccinations, which is maybe a 10-minute drive. Look now for pet friendly hotels along the I 10! We also thought about renting a camper van to not have to much change for the cat daily?

In reply to Barbara A Alley. Hello Barbara, thank you for the comment. What kind of sores are these? Is there any chance you could find a permanent or long-term solution? I wouldn't assume that one painful week per month means that his entire life is no longer worth living (think about what many women go through for a huge chunk of their lives!) That said, I don't fully understand the situation, and this is a conversation between you, Smokie, and your vet. You might appreciate our article on deciding when to euthanize a cat.

My cat Smokie has to have two shots every month for his mouth pain. I have had him in for dental surgery and they removed a couple of teeth but he gets these sores. He’s ok until the third week of the month and then it starts hurting again. They only let me have him get the shots once a month. Am I being selfish by keeping him alive? I love him and will be devastated to lose him but I need to do the right thing for him. Thank you.

In reply to Donna. Donna, not sure about Splenda, but anything that has xylitol is toxic to cats. Just remember the X in xylitol is toXic. Best of luck to you!
